I desire to get my boyfriend a digital camera for a birthday/grad present. I am willing to spend between 120-160 dollars CND on one. I have found many for under 100, but I am worried they are bad quality. Which digital cameras have a “good reputation”? I’d hate to give him a camera that will break with a year.

In my opinion, Canon and Sony are the best. They have good cameras in that price range too.
I have the FujiFilm FinePix and i love it! its a great camera and very reasonably priced! hope i could help!
You can get a lot of good info here:
Personally I love the ‘Medion’ camera I got for christmas, I’m pretty sure it was a reasonable price too!
Canon Powershot A590IS is a good choice
Thanks
The Canon Powershot A590IS is cracking good value, you can but it online in the UK for £90 so I guess it would be around $140 in the USA. Why not ask him to chip-in to the price?
The A590IS is little thirsty on batteries so he will also need a set of rechargeable camera batteries and a recharger – they’re not expensive – but it’s a minor detail.
Most cameras of this quality cost more than twice as much the Canon.
Any of the cameras listed on this website are good.http://www.dpreview.com
The P&S cameras with the “best” reputation are Canon, Casio, Fujifilm, Nikon, Olympus, Panasonic, Pentax and Sony
All but Sony and Olympus use SD or SDHC memory cards.
Olympus uses their special xD card and Sony uses their Memory Stick, nice name but only other Sony products can use them.
Have a look at this review published last month. It compares the leading contenders in that kind of price range:http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/Q408budg…
I like the Canon Powershot A590IS even though it didn’t get picked out as the best in this group. The Lumix is a fine camera too.
The A590IS is widely available. If you’re happy to buy online this is one possibility at CDN $144.90…http://www.cameracanada.com/eNet-cart/pr…
You’ll need to get a memory card too. I’d get a 1 GB SD card for starters – your boyfriend can buy a bigger card if he needs one. He’ll also want to get some NiMH rechargeable batteries.
