I’m looking for a digital camera with a fast respose time from when you push the button to when the picture is actually captured. I have a 1 year old who never stops moving and each time I try to take her picture, our current ditigal camera waits so long to take the picture, I miss all the adorable moments I’ve been trying to capture!!! Please help?! Thank you for your suggestions in advance

While it seems like just a regular situation, taking photos of toddlers is probably one of the most demanding photo situations. Part of the problem can be solved by the user (that’s you). Always ‘pre-focus’ by pushing the button down half-way. Then, once the camera is focused, wait for the right expression and then push the shutter completely and the response time will be excellent.
To really do the job, you may need to spend $1500 on a Canon DSLR like the 30D, which has fast response and can take 5 frames per second. So, you can fire off shot after shot, and then just sort through them for the one that captured the expression and moment that you are looking for.
But- some cameras are much faster at autofocusing than others. as far as compact digicams- Canon’s are notoriously slow, as are some Nikons but most newer models are much better. Fuji, Casio and Sony tend to do pretty well with AF response time. But- once again, it depends on the model
Try them out in the store. Read the reviews on line- many actually measure the AF and response times. Anything less than 0.5 sec is reasonably good. 0.3 sec or better is about as fast as a compact digicam can do it. DSLRs will focus in 0.1-0.2 sec.

canon shot SD 1000! works great! If u cant afford it any canon SD works fine.
If you can set your current camera to take a sequence of three or more shots each time, you might find that you will get more with that adorable moment quality. The subsequent shots are much quicker than the first shot.
You can then be ruthless about the rest, and discard them once they are on your computer and you have had a chance to evaluate them.
The Fujifilm FinePix E900 will give just a 1 second delay between shots, will also give you an excellent 8X10 print.
4X optical zoom, 9 megapixels, also has manual controls aside from auto. Battery life is above average and takes AA rechargeables.
According to Website dpreview.com Abe’s of Maine has it for $215-
