I am looking to buy my boyfriend a digital camera as a gift. I don’t want to want to spend a lot of money, but I do want it to be good quality. Any ideas? Thanks!

The Canon SD 1000 is the only choice. Canon has THE best sensor on the market meaning that the chip that captures the actual image is more realistic and well produces the best image for a compact camera. It also has cool features like face detection, color swap, and color accent.
I recommend going to your local Best Buy and having them demo the unit for you. It is $199 but a good camera. Mostly a camera under 150 is not going to really do well in low light situations – bars, basements, birthday parties, campfires, ect.

The Canon PowerShot A590 IS
It’s 8 megapixels, 4X optical zoom, has image stabilizer for shaky hands and shutter/aperture can be set manually or leave on auto. Last time I looked Tri State Camera had it for $130-+shipping.
CANON POWERSHOT – Any Canon Powershot cameras are great! I have the Powershot sd1000, and I love it, but there are better Powershots.. unfortunately I had a price limit.

I 2nd the Canon A-590IS very good for $149 on sale if you look a little.
Fuji has some great little cameras for around $150. Top quality at a reasonable price with all the features you, or he, could need.
